Subscriptions and billing
Free-tier allocation
Every registered reader without a subscription receives a recurring free allocation of AI interactions. An unclaimed guest instead uses a separate bounded guest trial. The registered allocation refreshes in full at the start of each period — daily by default — and unused allowance does not carry over: it is a periodic allowance, not a balance that accumulates. The account area shows the current allowance, how much of it has been used, and when it next refreshes.
Reading, Continue and the Story's listed choices are free and do not consume this allowance. Requests that use AI assistance, such as interpreting typed input or providing a hint, consume the allowance. When a period's allowance is used up, further AI-assisted requests are refused until the next refresh; nothing is charged and no payment details are involved. Repeating the same request does not consume another slot. The free allocation is granted by the platform rather than purchased, so it never appears as a balance, a ledger entry, or a charge anywhere in the account.
An active subscription carries its own larger daily interaction allowance instead of the free allocation. Paid broadcasts are separate entitlements and do not consume the allowance; individual stories are not sold.
Subscriptions and cancellation
Subscription status and renewal information appear in the account's subscription area. The published monthly catalogue contains one purchasable plan: Premium at CAD 14.99 per month, with up to 24,000 AI interactions per UTC day. The account area shows the daily limit, used amount, remaining amount, and next UTC reset. Premium includes ad-free reading: eligible Premium accounts do not receive Story advertisements. Advertising consent is a separate account choice, not a subscription purchase. Repeating the same request does not consume another slot.
When the daily allowance is exhausted, wait for the displayed UTC reset. The free-tier allocation applies while no subscription is active; subscribing replaces it with the plan's larger daily allowance for as long as the subscription runs.
The plan's CAD price appears in the subscription area before checkout and comes from the server. Premium has one authored subtotal, CAD 14.99 per month; the subscription surface does not convert it or invent a second price. Review that subtotal and the provider's final total before confirming payment.
Applicable VAT, GST, or sales tax is calculated during checkout from the billing jurisdiction. The final provider payment screen is authoritative for the total to be charged, including any applicable tax. The purchase receipt records subtotal, tax, total, and tax treatment. A saved or older catalogue price can therefore be lower than the final total when tax applies, but the subtotal itself does not change.
The plans shown there are the currently published monthly catalogue; a plan is not available for a new purchase merely because an older page, message, or saved link names it. If no plans appear or a previously shown plan is unavailable, refresh once and then ask for human support instead of retrying checkout through a stale link.
An App Store purchase may remain pending while Ask to Buy or another approval is in progress. Apple is the seller and tax-remittance authority for an App Store purchase; Mystrix records Apple's reconciled proceeds rather than presenting that purchase as a direct Mystrix tax charge. No access change is expected until Apple completes that purchase. An approval can arrive later through the App Store; do not start repeated checkouts for the same pending request. If Apple reports a completed charge and the subscription still does not appear, ask for human support with the approximate purchase time and receipt or payment reference. Retrying the original pending purchase is safe: the service applies a completed subscription or access change only once.
Use the cancellation control shown there to stop a future renewal. Cancellation is scheduled for the end of the current billing period, so it does not immediately remove subscription access. While a cancellation is still pending, the subscription area offers a reactivation control that resumes renewal. Cancellation does not erase the account, its purchases, or its authored stories.
For a missing cancellation control, an unexpected renewal, or a subscription shown under the wrong account, ask for human support. Billing and account changes require a person to review the specific account.
Refunds, duplicate charges, and unauthorized payments
The automated assistant cannot issue refunds or decide a billing dispute. Ask for human support and include the purchase date, amount, currency, and receipt or payment reference. For a duplicate or unauthorized charge, say so explicitly so the request can be prioritized. Never send a complete card number, bank password, or one-time verification code. If a provider refunds or reverses a payment, the subscription access or paid-broadcast access backed by that payment may also be withdrawn.
